Steven Traugh is a pioneer in creating integrated arts materials for English Language Learners. For over 30 years he has been developing engaging activities for a variety ELL settings. As an award winning author and teacher Steven has successfully worked in a number of multi-lingual schools. Languages in these schools include Spanish, Vietnamese, Laotian, Cambodian, Russian, French, Korean, Mandarin, German and Japanese. He has experience working with and developing innovative materials for all levels toddler through adult. Settings include schools, colleges, migrant worker programs, adult education, family literacy programs, after school programs, special needs classes, orphanages and juvenile detention facilities.
Steven’s media studio, Kiducation Productions, has been employed by educational publishing companies, both domestic and international, to produce audio and video for English Language Learners. Hundreds of emergent readers, curriculum texts and trade books have been adapted to meet the needs of a growing number of students world wide. Songs, chants, movements and read-a-longs are activities that improve understanding, retention and decoding skills. Students develop an enthusiasm for books and reading that helps them catch up and keep up.
On average 6 audio tracks were created for each title: 1) Introduction: Title/Author/Illustrator/Publisher info, 2) Echo Chant and or Unison Chant, 3) Movement Game, 4) Read-A-Long with sound effects and background music, 5 ) Story Song , 6 ) Comprehension Quiz or Instrumental (Karaoke) for independent reading.
